Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD – Temporomandibular Disroders) refer to several common clinical entities involving the muscles of mastication, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Temporomandibular joint) and adjacent structures and tissues.
Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD – Temporomandibular Disroders) refer to several common clinical entities involving the muscles of mastication, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Temporomandibular joint) and adjacent structures and tissues. TMD is one of the most common causes of pain in the orofacial area. Furthermore, TMD often causes basic functional limitations, such as difficulty chewing, speaking, swallowing, or yawning. Furthermore, TMD patients often suffer from other pain syndromes, such as migraines, tension-type headaches, chronic cervical spine pain, and a wide range of dysfunctions of the craniocervical-shoulder complex. These problems can affect both adults and children.
In this course, participants will learn:
- Effective, evidence-based assessment of patients with TMD and related disorders.
- Practical methods for diagnosing and improving the treatment process for people suffering from TMD and co-occurring conditions.
After completing the course, the participant will be able to:
- Learn about the current scientific basis regarding pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system in the cranio-mandibular region.
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of serious medical problems in people with craniomandibular pain (e.g. red flags) and respond appropriately.
- Practically assess, diagnose and recognize the most common clinical patterns in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).
- Apply appropriate clinical reasoning based on planning and managing therapy for people with TMD and related conditions.
- Treat patients effectively and safely with temporomandibular joint disorders and accompanying ailments.

Clinical expert in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and orofacial pain
Dr Tzvika Greenbaum
Dr. Tzvika Greenbaum is a leading physiotherapist specializing in the rehabilitation of patients with cervical-cranio-mandibular disorders. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from the University of Haifa, a Master of Science in Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia, and a Doctor of Physiotherapy from Tel Aviv University.

He completed two postdoctoral fellowships: at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, where he studied muscle performance during mouth opening, and at Ben-Gurion University, where he conducted research on the functioning of the cervicocranial-mandibular system in individuals with obstructive sleep apnea. He is a senior lecturer at Ben-Gurion University, a lecturer at Tel Aviv University, and maintains a clinical practice at Herzliya Medical Center.
Dr. Greenbaum's research focuses on the relationship between musculoskeletal function and speech, swallowing, and voice disorders, as well as innovative treatments for headaches and orofacial pain. He founded the Cervico-Cranio-Mandibular Academy (CCMA) to integrate clinical practice with research. He is also an internationally recognized dry needling instructor. His award-winning research has been published in leading scientific journals, and he lectures regularly worldwide.
